Bishop Oscar E. Brown, M.DIV., D.D.

Bishop Oscar Eugene Brown is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. The sixth child of the late Deacon Ulysses and the late Deaconess Hallie Mae Brown, his Christian foundation was formed at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Baltimore under the pastorate of the late Reverend Arthur J. Benn. It was at Mt. Moriah that Oscar Brown received and accepted his calling to the preaching ministry. He later joined the New Psalmist Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Walter Scott Thomas. On September 28, 1986, he was ordained into the preaching ministry and assumed the pastorate at the historic – First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. He began his education in the Baltimore City Public School System and later matriculated through Morgan State University and Howard University School of Divinity earning a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity respectively. Notably, Bishop Brown was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity in 2015 from the Eastern Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia.

In April 1995, Reverend Brown was led to join the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. It was at this session that Reverend Brown was appointed Overseer for the State of Maryland. Overseer Brown was then appointed to the Office of Bishop-Elect in July 1996, and later that year on November 21, 1996, Bishop-Elect Brown was consecrated to the Office of Bishop in The Lord’s Church at the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship’s “Changing A Generation” Enrichment Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

God has afforded Bishop Brown, throughout the years, the opportunity to serve in various international areas, most notably as the First Assistant to the Founder and the First Chief Apostle of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship – Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton. Additionally, Bishop Brown serves as on the Executive Council for both the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Joseph Warren Walker, III and the Kingdom Association of Covenant Pastors where his Spiritual Father – Bishop Walter Scott Thomas serves as Presiding Prelate. Bishop Brown travels extensively throughout the country ministering in conferences, worship celebrations and leadership seminars. His gifting is recognized by many key leaders of the world to be in the forefront of the Baptist Pentecostal function within the Body of Christ.

Bishop Brown along with his wife, Lady Jacqueline D. Brown lead the First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, an exciting, thriving Christ-centered ministry located in Linthicum, Maryland. The First Mt. Olive Church has been impacting the Baltimore Metropolitan area for over 80 years by challenging its members and the wider community to realize and fulfill their local, regional, and global responsibilities. With well over several thousand members, the First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church is recognized as a vital entity on the cutting edge of new and innovative ways of presenting ministry. Many of the groundbreaking initiatives include The Center for the Humanities, which house a senior citizens initiative called S.A.L.T. (Seniors Actively Learning and Training), Human Empowerment, and Youth driven activities; a 1000+ seat Banquet and Event Center; and a Ministry Institute for Leadership. Bishop Brown has prophetically challenged the people of God to remove traditional mindsets and replace them with Kingdom Building mentalities.

In addition to all of Bishop Brown’s accomplishments, his role as husband to Lady Jacqueline; father to Breahna Brown-Bair [Elder Joshua Bair] and Victoria Brown; and grandfather to 2 beautiful granddaughters, Dallas and Saige Bair has brought the most fulfillment.
